ABOUT THE CUSTOMER

Zeeuwind is a renewable energy cooperative with over 2,500 members and more than 32 years of experience in developing wind and solar farms in Zeeland. The cooperative has grown into one of the largest energy cooperatives in the Netherlands and owns or co-owns several solar farms. Scheldezon is an initiative of Hopmans Zon, Zeeuwind, and Eneco. The solar farm was built on the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) site of the Brabantse Delta Water Board in Rilland. This location is a fine example of “dual land use”: the surplus land next to the wastewater treatment plant is being optimally utilized for solar energy.

The challenge

A cooperative with multiple solar farms in its portfolio that requires professional technical management for its members and investors. As an energy cooperative, Zeeuwind manages multiple solar farms for its members. The cooperative wants the installations to perform optimally year after year, both in terms of energy yield and the financial returns for its participants. In the event of malfunctions, a rapid response is essential to minimize loss of revenue. Due to its size (31,000 panels, 9.5 MWp), Scheldezon faces specific management challenges: various inverters, a sprawling site, and the need for periodic monitoring and preventive maintenance.

The solution

Covolt takes full responsibility for the technical management of Scheldezon:

Asset Monitoring (AM):

  • Technical management of the entire solar park
  • Preventive maintenance and periodic inspections
  • Performance Monitoring and Results Reporting
  • Spare Parts Management

Corrective maintenance:

  • Rapid fault resolution in the event of an outage
  • Replacing defective inverters
  • Cable repairs and component replacement
result

Thanks to its partnership with Covolt, Scheldezon operates reliably and any malfunctions are quickly resolved. The cooperative and its members have real-time insight into the solar park’s performance.
→ 9.5 MWp under Covolt’s technical management
→ 31,000 solar panels actively monitored
→ Rapid response to malfunctions (inverters, cables)
→ Professional reporting process for cooperative members

The revenue from the solar farm is returned to the cooperative members and contributes to the energy transition in Zeeland.
